HELIX staff are designing four parks, a promenade, streetscape planting, and multi-use trail connections within the Riolo Vineyards Specific Plan Area in Placer County in collaboration with the development’s engineers. The four parks provide for a wide range of recreation including baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and a basketball/tennis court. These parks also include play equipment inspired by the vineyard that once occupied the site and exercise stations clustered near the playgrounds and along the paths. The multi-use trail and promenade connects the parks with the larger community and creates a longer loop with opportunities to stop at the shaded picnic tables or grassy park areas for a rest. The site design responds to the sensitive nature of the adjacent open space, creek, and wetlands with the careful use of paths and barriers to safely direct pedestrians, providing informational signage regarding the history, ecology, and design of the site, and using a low impact development approach to capture, slow, and treat water within the parks before it leaves the property.
