The City of Folsom’s award winning, multi-use bike trail network is recognized as one of the City’s crown jewels and a major attractant for residents and visitors alike. A key component of the City’s bike trail vision is connecting various trail segments and maintaining/improving user safety across the network. Accordingly, the proposed Oak Parkway Trail Bicycle Undercrossing project is aimed to improve network circulation and public safety by allowing trail users a Class I option (i.e., direct connection to Oak Parkway Trail from the Johnny Cash Trail) rather than existing Class II facilities that may be less safe and inconvenient. HELIX Environmental Planning (HELIX) is preparing technical studies and a CEQA Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the project which is situated in the northern portion of the City of Folsom in northeastern Sacramento County. The project area contains environmentally sensitive resources and general issues of concern including mature oak woodland and potentially jurisdictional waters and wetlands.
