HELIX’s Construction Group, is seeking a highly motivated Landscape Habitat Restoration Technician with a strong work ethic to join our Los Angeles County team in Pasadena. Our Construction Group division specializes in environmental construction, habitat restoration/maintenance throughout California.

We pride ourselves on commitment to excellence.  HELIX provides, habitat restoration, biological consulting, landscape architecture, cultural resource management, regulatory permitting, environmental compliance monitoring, CEQA/NEPA acoustics and noise control, air quality and greenhouse gas, and GIS services to both the public and private sectors.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist with removal of unwanted plant material (weed removal)
  • Assist with planting of trees and shrubs (seeds, cutting, container stock)
  • Assist with digging and compaction of irrigation trenches
  • Assistance with the installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems
  • Assistance with installation and maintenance of fencing
  • Assistance with grading and leveling
  • Work safely
  • Trash collection and pick up
  • Mix and apply herbicides
  • Ability to operate and maintain small gasoline powered equipment
  • Perform manual work
  • Proper planting techniques
  • Safe and proper use of hand tools
  • Proper method of operating motorized equipment
  • Safe and effective use of herbicides (mixing, loading, application, cleaning, etc.)
  • Irrigation repair and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in varying terrain
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ yrs. General Labor Experience or related experience
  • 1+ yrs. Landscaping Experience or related experience
  • Be safety minded
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Work in a variety outdoor weather patterns
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Walk in a variety of uneven surfaces and slopes
  • Knowledge of native plants and weed species a PLUS

Compensation

$17-21.75/hour, or dependent on experience. Excellent benefits package included.
