On Thursday, September 20, 2018 the Association of Environmental Professionals, San Diego Chapter recognized HELIX Environmental Planning with the 2018 Award for Outstanding Technical Report for the Sweetwater Vistas Project Biological Technical Report (BTR).

The Sweetwater Vistas Project is a new 23.1-acre master-planned community consisting of 218 multi-family residential units and 27.9 acres of biological open space within a 51.9-acre property located north of Sweetwater Reservoir in the unincorporated community of Spring Valley, San Diego County, California. The property planned for the Sweetwater Vistas Project plays host to a unique suite of sensitive biological resources, further complicated by multiple conservation planning areas, overlapping agency jurisdictions, and a long history of previous plans, documentation, and entitlements. As such, the project’s biological resources technical study and BTR had to address a wide range of sensitive plant and animal species, multiple sensitive habitat types, jurisdictional waters and wetlands, local and regional wildlife movement, and Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) consistency for an MSCP Hardline Adjustment.

The AEP Outstanding Technical Report award recognizes HELIX’s unique approaches, the ability to analyze complex issues and synthesize the information, clarity of writing and organization, and comprehensive identification of and response to applicable regulations. HELIX is honored to have led the preparation of the award-winning BTR working closely with the applicant team, the County of San Diego, and wildlife agencies throughout the process.
